The E.B.O.N.Y. Principle is the lens through which we build community, create opportunities, and protect the wellbeing of women of color in business. Each letter is a promise we make to ourselves and each other.
E – Empowerment
Empowerment is the process of becoming stronger, more confident, and fully claiming your power in life and business. Confidence and strength are non-negotiable for success. When like-minded women, committed to achieving big goals, gather to mastermind and strategize, we don’t just share ideas—we actively empower ourselves and each other to make incredible things happen.
B – Belief
Trust yourself. Back yourself. Have unwavering faith in your vision. Your belief is the fuel for everything you do. We know it’s tough when your goals feel bigger than your experience, when your brilliant idea faces doubt, or when obstacles fill your day. Huge accomplishments only happen when you believe in yourself and purposefully surround yourself with a network that believes in you, too.
O – Opportunity
Opportunity is defined as the set of circumstances that makes forward movement possible. In the Ebony Network, we don’t wait for those circumstances—we create them. Whether it’s access to new learning, sharing best practices, or securing speaking engagements, actively generating and sharing opportunities for each other is the heart of our game.
N – Networking
You’ve heard the saying: “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” That truth is magnified in business and career growth! Talk, collaborate, pass qualified leads, and form strategic teams to ensure your customers and clients get the absolute best possible experience. Your network is your currency.
Y – You
You are the single most valuable asset in your business. It’s essential to be motivated, balanced, and grounded—or at least 3 out of those 5 things 51% of the time. As women, especially as women of color, we often prioritize ourselves last, which is unacceptable for sustainable success. You must come first when focusing on your goals and achievement. Why? Because if your cup isn’t full, you cannot pour into others. We encourage you heavily and talk openly about how to make sure “ME” time is mandatory, even in the busiest schedule.
